Gilbert Brooks married (1) by 1646, Elizabeth ____. She was buried at Rehoboth on 17 Jul 1687. They had nine children, the 1st 8 of whom were baptized at the 2nd Church of Scituate: Elizabeth Stevens, Sarah Grant Lyon, Mary Colborn, Rachel Wiggin, Phebe Manley, Bathsheba Walker, Rebecca Haskins, Hannah Crossman, & Bethia Thresher.
According to an article in Vol 28 of the American Genealogist her maiden name was Simmons.
