Biography

Emily Dow Patridge born in Geuaga County, Ohio was the dauther of 1st Mormon Biship Edward Partridge (1793-1840).


Marriage and Family

Emily and her sister Eliza Maria Partridge (1820-1886) were both plural wives of the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith (1805-1844). Neither had any children from that marriage. After his assasination, Eliza married to Amasa Lyman and Emily married (Sept 1844) to the next Mormon leader, Brigham Young (1801-1877), by whom she had 7 children.
