Biography
Early Years
Emily was born in Pickensville AL in 1830. The following year her family moved just barely across the state line to Mississippi. In Noxubee County, Mississippi their family joined the Buttahatchie 1845 LDS Branch of the young LDS Church. In 1845 they moved to join the main body in Nauvoo, IL.
Marriage #1 - Solomon Case
In 1847 (Iowa) she married Solomon Case and had one child, Cordelia with him. Emily traveled to Salt Lake City, where she gave birth to her daughter (Nov 1848). Apparently they divorced shortly afterwards, for she married only two years later in Salt Lake to Levi Hancock.
Marriage #2 - Levi Hancock
In 1849, Emily became the fourth of five wives married to Levi Hancock, a prominent member of The Mormon Battalion.
