Biography
Ethel Jane Boyle was born 7 April 1885 in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia to Edward John Boyle (1857-1941) and Louisa Jane Reed (1857-1937) and died 8 December 1911 The Coast Hospital, Little Bay, New South Wales, Australia of septicemia following an abortion induced by mechanical means.
In connection with the death of Miss Ethel Jane Boyle, late of Dubbo, some peculiar circumstances have been brought to light, which necessitate an inquest. The deceased lived with her aunt at "Kiaro," Dind-street, North Sydney, died at the Coast Hospital on Friday last. It is alleged that Miss Boyle, who had been a counter hand at Burlington Cafe, George-street, City, left her home on November 13, telling her aunt (Mrs. Harrison) she was going to stay with some people at Coogee for a few days. It is understood she went to a house in Bourke-street, and was removed from there to the hospital on November 23. The body was taken to the city morgue, where Dr. Palmer made a post-mortem examination. In his opinion, death was due to blood poisoning.
