Most of the first families of Massachusetts came over wither on the Mayflower in 1620 or with the Winthrop Fleet in 1630. See Category: First families of Massachusetts. This list is not to be confused with the Boston Brahmins, which a list of the first families that rose to prominence in the Massachusetts area. This is a list of all the first families of Massachusetts.

Adams family

  • Henry Adams was born in 1583 in Barton St. David, Somerset, England and died in 1646 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He immigrated from Braintree, England to what soon became after his arrival, Braintree Massachusetts. He was a prosperous farmer in the New World. He married Edith Rosamund Squire on 19 Oct 1609 in Charlton Mackrell, Somerset, England and had ten children. All of their children immigrated with them to Massachusetts.

Warren family

Their are six Warren families that Immigrated to Massachusetts by 1650: Their many descendants include many notable figures in Massachusetts history. All are believed to be descendants of the early English knight, William de Warenne (1055-1088). (See also Warenne Family Ancestry.)

  1. Richard Warren (c1580-1628), a 1620 immigrant on the Mayflower to Plymouth Colony.
  2. John Warren (1585-1667) - a 1630 immigrant in the great fleet of Gov Winthrop to settle Massachusetts Bay Colony. This family first resided extensively at Watertown, Massachusetts.
  3. Abraham Warren (1574-1654) and his son Arthur Warren (1615-1658) were 1635-37 immigrant from Nottingham who settled at Weymouth, Massachusetts.
  4. John Warren (1624-1677), (md to Deborah Wilson). Early settler of Exeter, New Hampshire before moving on to Boston. Originated from England, shire unknown.
  5. Daniel Warren.
  6. Peter Warren (1627-1704) - possibly early English immigrant of 1640/1650 to Roxbury, Boston. Md to Sarah Tucker. No record of immigration.
