The Forray family is first documented in the XVII-th century. János Forray, a lieutenant of György Rákóczy died in battle in 1658, during the siege of the Arad fortress [1]
The line of succession of the next members of the family is not completely documented. The next members of the family became owners of the estate of Săvârşin in Arad County. The main members of the family are;
- Andreas von Forray (1718-1788)
- Andreas von Forray (1780-1830) who was elevated to the rank of barron and decorated with the Order of Saint Stephen
- Iván von Forray (1817-1852) who was elevated to the rank of count
The last, died without children and the family of Forray became extinct
