Our person forms have fields for years with a field labelled "BCE?". Inserting "BC" or "true" in that field does nothing: Old Testament figures who have been given birth "year" fields appear in categories and infoboxes to have been born after the birth of Christ, which is quite wrong and spoils our statistics. It probably also leads to some "born before father" error messages. Category:Born in 25 includes the Virgin Mary's husband Joseph along with Antenor III der West-Franken (c25-c69).

If we can't fix it, we should refuse to allow BCE dates.

What can we do?

I vote for not allowing BCE dates: I don't think we can do genealogy of that era with the required level of accuracy. Thurstan (talk) 08:34, December 6, 2020 (UTC)
