No forum discussion of burials and burying seems to have happened in the last few years. Thurstan and I had a chat about it 2 years ago, agreeing that the Wikipedia standard "Category:Burials" and its subcategories was the most sensible way for us to go, involving merely one extra character to type (or none if adding parent categories with a clever template), as against "[[:Category:Buried]]" (which would match our "married" and "born" categories).

We have fewer than 3 dozen "Buried in ..." categories but scores of "Burials in" (for towns, countries, etc) categories and some "Burials at" (for cemeteries and probably sea) and some "Burials by" (for ontological groupings).

Let's standardize on "Burials". Some kind soul can stick {{Category redirect|<>}} on the three dozen "Buried", then maybe a bot can do the transfers, and we can probably all remember which to choose for new categories.

Accept Wikipedia categories wherever they exist for English-speaking countries, use "Burials in ..." with Andrei's preferred district names in Central and Eastern Europe, link (with {{usedwps}} or {{alsoWP}}) to the matching or almost-matching WP categories wherever possible (for data-mining if nothing else), and fill in the Wikipedia gaps (which are many) using the same principles.
