Robert Cuming of Birness (c1670-) is refusing to display the children he had with his second wife. I've republished every relevant-looking page. What have I missed? -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 13:32, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
- That it doesn't work that way: if he has defined children (which he does), it displays them. If he has no children, it checks his spouses. It does not do the decision spouse by spouse (which is what you want). I think the logic you want would be better... Thurstan (talk) 20:38, September 23, 2013 (UTC)
It should (as I imagined it did) check each spouse; otherwise we don't have the "type them just once" advantage and we need to retype or paste and run the risk of not updating. Any chance of seeing one of our experts recode it? (The {{siblings}} listing checks each parent by each spouse in turn, I think; maybe its code will give a clue.)
As an interim measure we can advise users to put all of one person's children on his or her own page, moving them from a one-spouse spouse where necessary. I'll do that with this chap. That won't work wherever each of a couple had children by someone else.

Child of spouse by other partner[]
This shouldn't happen. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (555-619) is showing not only the children she gave Muhammad but also a child someone else gave him. Bug? -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 05:27, August 3, 2016 (UTC)
- The page Muhammad (c570-632) is wrong: the Property:Joined with is not being set, which exposes a (known) bug in {{showfacts children}}. Investigations continue... Thurstan (talk) 22:52, August 3, 2016 (UTC)
