Mission statement

  • Perhaps we should develop a short, easy to understand Mission Statement that explains the entire wiki? Such as including the following:
  • To establish:
    • Large database
    • Life details of people, places, events
    • Connecting families
    • Perhaps others

I propose something like this:

The goal of Familypedia is to establish a genealogical database compiled of every person, place, and event in human history and to establish details far beyond vital statistics.

I believe that providing a short Mission Statement, people can easily understand what this site is about. We can go into more detail for those who wish to learn more also. Perhaps the proposed Mission Statement could be expanded/adjusted? -AMK152(TalkContributions) 23:57, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Good ideas there. I like it all except the word "compiled", which looks as if it could be advantageously deleted. As an old-timer I wondered about your saying "develop a short, easy to understand Mission Statement", because I thought we had one. But after 10 minutes' searching I can't be sure I've found even its remnants. The top of About is part of it, I think - and probably one of the places we would show a new one. Ideas from other contributors, please! Robin Patterson 03:49, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
