Bill has put together some documents on genealogy acronyms, and some other conventions used by genealogists.
I noticed that folks uploading images are leaving out crucial information- but then I noticed, there was no "how to tutorial" to help people get started. I lifted a document from Commons for such a tutorial. Doubtless it can be whittled down and Commons sort of focus on some details will need to be changed, but please have a look: Genealogy:First Steps/Image quality and description. Comments are welcome. I think we need a full "First Steps" tutorial for Genealogy wikia. We aren't entitled to grumble about folks not following conventions if we never made it obvious to them what those conventions/ suggestions are.

- I've given it a link to Help:Images, which looks to me like a "how to tutorial". Robin Patterson 05:33, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

- Now I've linked that page from MediaWiki:Uploadtext and included a bold warning about licensing there. Robin Patterson 11:34, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
