Francis Cary was born on January 19, 1647 in Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts to John Cary and Elizabeth Godfrey. He married Lydia Brett in 1676. Samuel Rompkins gave his estate in East Bridgewater to Francis Cary, who was brought up with him, hence Cary named his eldest son Samuel. Francis died on November 1, 1680 in Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
