Geoffrey Fitz Peter, 1st Earl of Essex, was born circa 1162 to Piers de Lutegareshale (1134-1179) and Maud (c1138-) and died 14 October 1213 of unspecified causes. He married Beatrice de Say (-1197) 25 January 1185 JL . He married Aveline de Clare (c1178-1225) 29 May 1205 JL .
