George Arndell was born 28 July 1829 in Cattai, New South Wales, Australia to Thomas Arndell (1799-1865) and Sophia Loder (1803-1887) and died 15 July 1898 Cattai Creek, Cattai, New South Wales, Australia of influenza.


THE death of Mr George Arndell took place at his residence, Caddai Creek, on Saturday last through a severe attack of influenza. The deceased had only been ailing for a short time. He was 68 years of age and had lived a great part of his life in the Hunter district, in and around Singleton, where he was a large property holder, and for the past two years he has lived at Cattai Creek, near his brother, Mr Thomas Arndell. The funeral took place on Monday evening last, which left his late residence at 12 o'clock, and proceeded to the Presbyterian Cemetery, Ebenezer, where the remains were interred in the family vault. The coffin, which was a highly polished cedar one, with silver mountings, was carried to the grave by four of his friends—Messrs E Grono, W Grono, senr., W Grono, junr., R Eggleton, junr. The Rev R Edgar officiated at the grave, and gave a very touching address; the choir also sang appropriate hymns, Mr T Collison was the undertaker.
