Obituary

MR. G. BLANCH.

The death occurred in Ballina District Hospital of Mr. George Blanch, a well-known resident of the Bangalow district. Mr. Blanch was born at Brushgrove on the Clarence River in 1863. He served his apprenticeship in the saddlery trade at Grafton and, on completion, started a business at Brushgrove. In 1892, he was married to Elizabeth Sneesby, of Ulmarra. He left Brushgrove in 1901 and came to Baliina, where he started a saddlery business and remained there till he moved to Bangalow in 1920 to take over the business of the late Mr. George Reading. After a few years, he started out on his own account and remained in the same business till his death. His wife predeceased him 28 years ago. He is survived by one son, Mervyn (Bangalow), and three daughters, Mrs. E. O'Neill (Olive), Coolangatta; Mrs. R. Stone (Myrtle), Ballina; and Mrs. G. Brickle (Dorothy), Newcastle. Pallbearers at the church were F L'Estrange and A. Reynolds (nephews), Hayden and Russell Blanch (grandsons), Mervyn (son), R. Stone (son-in-law), and at the graveside, Messrs. A. Leary, E. Dudgeon, E. Akers, A. Lavercombe, D. Machin, R. O. Prior. The service, which was held in All Souls' Church of England, was conducted by Canon Saunders, who also officiated at the graveside. Funeral arrangements were in the hands of A. Beckinsale and Co.
