Mr. George Bowden, a resident of Walcha district for more than 70 years, died in Walcha Hospital on Tuesday last, after an illness of four months, aged 83 years.
He was a grazier, and resided at Glen Morrison. He retired from active work about 10 years ago. A widow and grown-up family survive. Daughters are Mrs. Jas. Brazel (Ingleba), Mrs. Geo. Tickle (Quirindi), Mrs. J. Ferris (Glen Innes), Mrs. McDougall (Sydney), Mrs. L. Cooper (Sydney), Mrs. A. Green (Walcha), Mrs. C. Levingston (Ingleba). Sons are George (Boggabri), Thomas (Walcha), Charles (Walcha), Sidney (Sydney).
Two brothers, Fred (Chinchilla) and James (Walcha) are living.
The funeral took place in the Church of England cemetery at Walcha on Wednesday afternoon and was very largely attended. The Rev. R. L. McInnes, officiated at the church and the cemetery.
T. Crowley and Son, of Armidale, carried out the funeral arrangements.
