Obituary
The remains of the late Mr. George Neville Griffiths, who on Friday died suddenly at his residence, "Barcom Villa," Darlinghurst, were interred on Saturday afternoon at the Waverley Cemetery. The Rev. W. I. Carr-Smith conducted the service at "Barcom Villa," and also officiated at the graveside. The mourners included Messrs. P. C. Griffiths (brother), Francis and John Griffiths (sons), Herbert Greene (son-in-law), Francis Adams (general manager A.J.C. Bank), John Adams, E. W. Knox, Henry Austin, and Consett Stephen. Mr. Griffiths was a native of this State, but was mainly educated in England, taking his B.A. degree at Cambridge. Returning to Australia in 1862, he settled down to station life, and founded the firm of Griffiths and Weaver. After a residence in Queensland, he made his home in Sydney, and sat for one term as Parliamentary representative of East Sydney. He interested himself keenly in the work of the Sydney Hospital, being for many years a member of the board of that institution.
