Gerrit and Willij Renting's life together
Daughter Willy (not "Willij"; she later moved to Italy) and son Gerry (who later moved to New Zealand) were both born at Haarlem, where the family continued to live at Decker Straad 1.
They had little or no contact with Gerrit's parents but made weekly visits on Sundays to the home of Willij's parents, who lived quite close in Haarlem. Her father was an upholsterer, later becoming an emigration consultant.
The German occupation did not affect them noticeably more than other Dutch families.
