Biography
Gurdon Buck was born 4 May 1807 in Manhattan, New York, United States to Gurdon Buck (1777-1852) and Susannah Manwaring (1783-1839) and died 6 March 1877 Manhattan, New York, United States of unspecified causes. He married Henriette Elisabeth Wolff (1810-1899) 27 July 1836 in Geneva, Switzerland.
He was a pioneering military plastic surgeon during the Civil War. He is known for being the first doctor to incorporate pre- and post-operative photographs into his publications. Buck's fascia and Buck's extension are both named after him.
