Looking for Grindles[]
My Great uncle Joseph Garner Grindle was born in Hall County, Gainesville, Georgia on January 15, 1881. This information was substantiated by his death certificate and World War II registration card. His brother John Odie Grindle was also born in Hall County, Gainesville, Georgia on February 4, 1889, also substantiated by his death certificate and World War II registration card.
They listed their parents as Joseph Grindle and Martha (Grant) Grindle.
I have not been successful in verification of their information much to my dismay. I believe that they may have been employed by the mill in Gainesville mill but have no records to substantiate my beliefs.
They were relocated to Clay County, Alabama before 1900. This was evidenced by the U.S. 1900 census. Joseph was listed as a boarder in the home of William H. Hobbs in the Mountain Precinct and John was listed as a "bound boy" in the home of George Thomas Hobbs in the Coppermine Precinct. These precincts are adjacent to one another and leads to the speculation that the Grindle family was beset by some catastrophic event and that the children were sent to kindred homes in Alabama. Having no proof of this as fact I am seeking any corroborating data concerning the Grindle parents of the two children in Alabama.
