Biography
Hannah Dustin Cheney was born in Haverhill, Mass. 12 Aug 1678 where she was the eldest of twelve children.
One day the Indians attacked their cabin in Haverhill. Hannah, through the directions of her mother who was sick in bed, directed the escape of ten of her brothers and sisters. But the baby was killed and the mother captured into Canada. Her mother, with another woman and a young boy, were able to kill ten Indians, collect their scalps and make their way back home. This terrible experience she often told her children in later years. (Source: The City of Kenosha and Kenosha County, Wisconsin; a Record of Settlement ... By Francis H.
