Hans Jacob Richter/Rector was born 10 October 1674 in Trupbach, Nassau-Siegen, Germany to Christophel Richter (1645-c1713) and Anna Catherina Becker (1640-1713) and died August 1729 Germantown, Fauquier County, Virginia, United States of America of unspecified causes. He married Anna Elisabeth Fischbach (1685-c1761) 17 January 1711 in Nassau-Siegen, Germany.
On June 17, 1712 Jacob was admitted to the Guild of Steel Steelsmiths and Toolmakers of the Freundenberg District as a toolmaker. Jacob, his wife and son John immigrated to the United States in 1713/14. He owned 150 acres in Germantown.
