Heinrich Raspe I. von Thüringen (1095-1130), Graf von Gudensberg, was born circa 1095 to Ludwig II. von Schauenburg und Thüringen (1042-1123) and Adelheid von Stade (c1060-1110) and died 1130 of murdered. He married Kunigunde von Bilstein (c1080-c1139) 1123 JL .
Henry Raspe I (c1095-1130) from the House of Ludowingers succeeded Werner von Grüningen as Reichssturmfähnrich and Count von Gudensberg.
Background
Heinrich Raspe I was the third son of Count Ludwig the Springer and his wife Adelheid von Stade and the brother of Ludwig I, who was elevated to Landgrave of Thuringia in 1131.
-- Increase in territory and power == In 1123, Heinrich married Kunigunde von Bilstein, the widow of the Hessian Gaugrave Giso IV of Gudensberg. Through this and through the proximity of his house to the later Emperor Lothar III ,who also raised Henry's brother Ludwig to landgrave of Thuringia in 1131, he obtained the office of Reichssturmfähnrich (signifer regis), which had previously come to the Gisonen as heir to Count Werner von Grüningen with the county of Maden/Gudensberg. Raspe's underage stepson Giso V has not yet been able to hold the office.
Kunigunde administered the Hessian counties of her minor son Giso V as regent, and Henry was first named Count of Gudensberg in 1130. He was murdered in the same year and buried in the monastery of Reinhardsbrunn.
Due to Henry's marriage to Kunigunde and that of his brother Ludwig to Kunigunde's daughter Hedwig von Gudensberg, after the death of the last Gisonen, Kunigunde's son Giso V (1137), and that of his mother (1140), the extensive Gisonian and Bilstein possessions and fief fell to the Ludowingers, who were thus able to extend their dominion to large parts of Hesse.
