Heinsberg is the capital of the district Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated near the border with the Netherlands, on the river Wurm, approx. 20 km north-east of Sittard and 30 km south-west of Mönchengladbach.
Geography[]
Wassenberg is the town in the North of Heinsberg, Hückelhoven in the east, Waldfeucht and Gangelt in the west, and Geilenkirchen in the south.
Two rivers flow through Heinsberg, the Wurm (River) and the Rur. The Wurm (River) lead in the Rur near to Rurkempen, a village from Heinsberg.

Sights[]

St. Gangolf
The city of Heinsberg has only some old houses. The most of the city is destroyed in 1944. The biggest sights are:
- St. Gangolf church
- Castle of Heinsberg (Heinsburg)
- Old district court
- "Grünes Haus" (oldest house of the city)
Traffic[]
Heinsberg Station[]
The station in Heinsberg was closed in 1980, but the rails are there still today. Heinsberg should be accessible by train in 2013. They began with cutting plants from the rails in 2010. The "Zug der Erinnerung" stopped in Heinsberg in 2011. For around 30 years, no train stopped in city.

Bus[]
Near to the arranging station is the bus station. There stopped buses to Erkelenz, Geilenkirchen, Wegberg, Gangelt, Waldfeucht and Selfkant-Tüddern. There are two swift buses,
which are named SB-Buses. The SB 1 goes from Erkelenz to Geilenkirchen, and the SB4 from Heinsberg to Erkelenz.
Street[]
Near the city is a highway (A46), and the "Bundesstraße 221".
Industry[]
In the industry area of Heinsberg, and the industry area of Oberbruch (IPO) are many companies, very famous;

Media[]
- Heinsberger Newspaper
- "Hs-Woche" a free weekly newspaper
- The "Lokalzeit aus Aachen" a news broadcast from the WDR about Aachen and Heinsberg, too.
- HS TV, a television transmitter
- The radio transmitter "Welle West" was closed in 2007. Other radio stations, which include 100.5 and 107.8, provide news and weather reports for Heinsberg

Creation and Schools[]
In Heinsberg are many basic schools and kindergarten. There are two "Hauptschulen" and "Realschulen". In Heinsberg is a "Gymnasium". Since 2007 is in the old "Berufschule" a school for disabled persons.
