Progress[]
It could be noted that we are now copying and adapting much more from WP than in earlier months, thanks to User:PhloxBot and his master. I approve. Robin Patterson 13:59, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
"Populated places established in ..."[]
We discussed at some length in a forum what we should do with categories such as Category:Settlements established in 1894. Afil was cutting out the "Settlements" part; I opposed that, on the basis that it did not seem sensible to remove the WP distinction between settlements and other things (such as institutions) established in particular years. Now when I change Category:Populated places established in 1894 to Category:Settlements established in 1894 someone cuts out the "Settlements" saying "fix..." in his edit summary. Nothing on this help page mentions that. Did I miss something? -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 09:06, April 28, 2013 (UTC)
- As I recall, you voted for changing "Category:Settlements established in 1894" to "Category:Settled in 1894", while Afil favoured "Category:Established in 1894". I consider that after Afil has done several thousand pages using his format, with not word from you, that you have given tacit approval to this form. I am sorry I missed it in my table. - I am 100% certain that I did not vote the way you say I did. And the fact that our energetic friend went his own way without specifically disagreeing with me cannot be taken as my tacit approval - I did not realise what he was doing. I still oppose the merging of settlements with other institutions. Where we differ from WP we should be more precise, not less. -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 08:46, June 2, 2017 (UTC)
Century births etc[]
Nothing in the table mentions deletion or variation of WP's "..th-century births" categories. But in 2017 one of our experts has been deleting them without apparent replacement (e.g. "Born in the ..th century" - categories that we have). Have I missed a relevant discussion? -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 08:46, June 2, 2017 (UTC)
