Herbert William Boyton was the oldest child of William Boyton (1872-1965) and Sarah Jane Gifford (died 1915). Herbert's brother and sisters were; Arthur Handley Boyton(1899-1902), Winifred Hope Boyton (1904- ?), Sarah Jane Boyton (1906-1906), Grace Handley Boyton (1909-?)and Jean Gifford Boyton (1910-?).
After living and working in Nangus for some years, Herbert, Mary and family made an agreement to move to, and live on Frederick Boyton's property between Illabo and Bethungra (around 1936-37). Herbert worked Frederick's property under the agreement until Frederick's death in 1946.
Herbert later retired to Gumly Gumly near Wagga.
Mary Jane died 31 July 1963 from cancer and Herbert died at a Nursing Home in Canberra in 1977. Herbert and Mary had 7 daughters all still living at the time of writing (Feb 2009).
