Hugh Cameron was born 7 September 1849 in Argyll, Scotland, United Kingdom to Colin Cameron (1821-1905) and Rosanna McPhee (1823-1915) and died 25 May 1945 Grafton, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Sarah Ellem (1851-1931) 31 March 1875 in Ellalong, New South Wales, Australia.
He arrived in Adelaide on the 23 September 1851 on the Lysander with his parents, who moved to New South Wales shortly after.
