The sources for this branch of the Bohons, earls of Hereford, Essex, and Northampton, are all English. The name Bohon was changed to Boun, Boon, Bowne, etc. It was later considered to signify master or boss. Humfridus, Onfroi, and Honfroy are translated as Humphrey.

- Humphrey VII de Bohun (c1249-1298), also 2nd Earl of Essex, a key figure in the Norman conquest of Wales
- Humphrey de Bohun, 4th Earl of Hereford (Humphrey VIII, 1276–1321/2), veteran of many battles with the Scots. He was one of the Ordainers who opposed Edward II's excesses. Married to Elizabeth of Rhuddlan (1282-1316) daughter of King Edward I of England.
- Humphrey IX 6th Earl of Hereford, {1309–1361), also 5th Earl of Essex and Lord High Constable of England, died childless
- Humphrey de Bohun, 7th Earl of Hereford (Humphrey X, 1342–1373), also 6th Earl of Essex and 2nd Earl of Northampton. A veteran of the 1365 Alexandrian Crusade, an English noble during the reign of King Edward III
