Biography

Hussey Burgh Macartney was born 30 September 1840 in County Cork, Ireland to Hussey Burgh Macartney (1799-1894) and Jane Hardman (1803-1885) and died 14 October 1908 Darjeeling, India of heart failure. He married Emily Addenbrooke (1829-1900) 7 March 1872 in "Mona Vale", Ross, Tasmania, Australia.

He arrived in Melbourne, Victoria on 24 January 1848 on the Stag with his parents.

  • MACARTNEY.—On the 19th October, at Darjeeling, India, of heart failure, Hussey Burgh, M.A. formerly rector St Mary's, Caulfield, and later chaplain, Sao Paulo, Brazil; youngest son of Hussey Burgh Macartney, D. D., late Dean of Melbourne, age 68 years.
