Biography

Ivan Vasilyevich of Yaroslavl, also known as Ivan Vasilyevich the Great (Russian: Иван Васильевич Большой) was born around 1265.

He is first mentioned in chronicles only in 1410, when, on order of Vasili I Dmitrievich Grand Prince of Moscow, against the princes of Daniil Borisovich and Ivan Borisovich of Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod, were trying with the help of a Tatar army to recover their heritage of Nizhny Novgorod, which had been taken by the Grand Prince of Moscow.

On January 17, 1411 he married his daughter, Maria Ivanovna to Prince Aleksandr Fyodorovich of Mikulin.

In 1412 ha accompanied the Grand Prince of Moscow on his voyage to the Golden Horde.
