James Abram Garfield, President of the USA, was born 19 November 1831 in Moreland Hills, Ohio, United States to Abram Garfield (1799-1833) and Eliza Ballou (1801-1888) and died 19 September 1881 Elberon, New Jersey, United States of unspecified causes. He married Lucretia Rudolph (1832-1918) 11 November 1858 in Hiram, Ohio, United States.

He served as the 20th President of the United States (1881), after completing nine consecutive terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (1863–81).
