James Chaplin Beecher was born 8 January 1828 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States to Lyman Beecher (1775-1863) and Harriet Porter (1790-1835) and died 25 August 1886 Dr. Gleason's Water Cure Sanitarium, Elmira, Chemung County, New York, United States of unspecified causes. He married Ann Morse (-1863) 1853 . He married Frances Johnson (c1828-c1903) 1864 .
He and his second wife adopted three daughters.
