James Earl Carter, Jr., President of the USA, was born 1 October 1924 in Plains, Sumter County, Georgia, United States to James Earl Carter (1894-1953) and Bessie Lillian Gordy (1898-1983) . He married Eleanor Rosalynn Smith (1927) 7 July 1946 in Plains, Sumter County, Georgia, United States.
