Biography
James Mangum was born 14 February 1820 in Springville, St. Clair County, Alabama to John Mangum (1763-1843) and Rebecca Canida (1785-1847) and died 14 February 1888 Nutrioso, Apache County, Arizona of unspecified causes. He married Eliza Jane Clark (1827-1859) 23 June 1842 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. He married Rebecca Frances Mangum (1843-1928) 1859 in Washington County, Utah. He married Mary Ann Smith (1844-1912) 9 October 1866 in Endowment House, Salt Lake County, Utah.
In Itawamba County, Mississippi their family joined the Itawamba 1845 LDS Branch of the young LDS Church. After his first wife died in Utah, he married his niece Rebecca Frances Mangum (1843-1928).
This couple married in 1842 in Itawamba County.
Charles C. Rich 1847 Pioneer Company
Charles Coulson Rich (1809-1883) led a pioneer company of 126 individuals that consisted primarily of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who were seeking refuge from religion persecution. Brother Rich was one of of the Apostles of the church. They left the Elkhorn River in Nebraska on 21 June 1847 and reached the Salt Lake Valley on 02 Oct 1847. The Mangums and Adairs were part of this company.
