He married Emma Louise Broadbent (1959) 6 September 1984 in St James's Piccadilly, Piccadilly, Greater London, England, United Kingdom.
James is the Member of Parliament (MP) for North East Hampshire. Between 2005 and 2014 he was Chairman of the Defence Select Committee.
