His gravestone gives his birth year as 1823, but usually a Bible record trumps that, so I went with 1822. I know he was a neighbor of John McArthur II in Wilkinson County and three of his children married 3 of John's children. Almost surely they met through the Ramah Baptist Church where James' father-in-law was the pastor at one time and where John and his family attended church services.

It looks like James moved to Wilkinson County after 1860, but his children are all supposed to have been born in Wilkinson County. They were probably born in Baldwin County and the Wilkinson County claim is an assumption, but I cannot say for sure.

He may have served in Co. H of the 57th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Tennessee. He appears online in the 1880 census in Wilkinson County, Georgia as James T. Robison.
