(When the name Turn-bull was first bestowed upon a French gentleman by King Robert Bruce of Scotland as a reward for a brave deed done by him) He was also a 1st cousin of Sir. A. Fairbairn of Scotland. He attended Glasgow College and the University at which latter place he obtained his M.A. degree. |

James Turnbull was born 19 March 1798 in Stichill, Roxburghshire, Scotland, United Kingdom to Robert Turnbull (1760-1837) and Agnes Fairbairn (1754-1840) and died 21 June 1858 Brook House East Grinstead, Surrey, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. He married Margaret Weddell (1803-1878) 1 December 1829 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom.
