Obituary

JAMES TURNBULL.

One of the oldest and most respected natives of the Hawkesbury River District, in the person of James Turnbull, passed rather suddenly away at his residence, Sackville Reach, on Monday morning last. Deceased followed the pursuits of farming all his ife and in earlier years was very successful, making for himself an honored name throughout the district in which he lived, and respected by all with whom he had any dealings.

As time aged successive floods destroyed both property and substance, leaving him in the end an almost ruined man. Not disheartened, he still worked on, until about 12 month ago illness overtook him, and he had to lay aside under the care of the doctor, who gave no hope at any time of his ultimate reoovery, and Monday last witnessed his demise, at the ripe old age of 78 years. He leaves behind him an aged wife of 70 years, beside seven sons and four daughters, who are all married. Mr E J Turnbull, of Mulgoa, is a son, being generally known and respected as the Council Clerk of that Municipality. The funeral, which was large and representative, took place on Tuesday, the remains being interred in Ebenezer Cemetery, the Rev Cooper officiating at the grave, where he delivered an interesting address.
