James William Duff was born 19 June 1849 in Jerrys Plains, New South Wales, Australia to Peter Duff (1814-1850) and Sarah Ann Hobden (1822-1872) and died 7 October 1918 Rookwood Asylum, Lidcombe, New South Wales, Australia of myocarditis. He married Jane Brown (1853-1892) 16 July 1873 in Jerrys Plains, New South Wales, Australia.
