Jamnagar District is located in state of Gujarat, India on the southern coast of the Gulf of Kutch. The headquarters is in Jamnagar. The famous city of Dwarka is situated in this district. The district had a population of 1,904,278 of which 43.91% were urban as of 2001.[1] Jamnagar is a very beautiful district and has many enjoyable assets. There is a Marine National Park and Bird Sanctuary there.[2]

According to the 2011 census Jamnagar district has a population of 2,159,130,[3] roughly equal to the nation of Namibia[4] or the US state of New Mexico.[5] This gives it a ranking of 212th in India (out of a total of 640).[3] The district has a population density of 153 inhabitants per square kilometre (400 /sq mi) .[3] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 13.38 %.[3] Jamnagar has a sex ratio of 938 females for every 1000 males,[3] and a literacy rate of 74.4 %.[3]
