Jeremiah Crossley was born 16 August 1811 in Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom and died 1 August 1884 Wargeila, Yass, New South Wales, Australia of self-inflicted gun shot wound. He married Sarah James (1824-1909) 25 May 1840 in Saint John's, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.

He arrived in New South Wales on 8 June 1832 on the John as a convict.

  • YASS, Friday. Jeremiah Crossley, aged 73 years, a very old and much respected resident of this district, committed suicide at his residence, Wargeila, this morning, by shooting himself. He had been suffering for some time past from acute rheumatism, and during a severe attack of pain he committed the rash act. Great sympathy is expressed for his widow and family.
