Joanna White Fiske was born circa 1632 in South Petherton, Somerset, England to John White (1596-1684) and Joane West (1606-1654) . She married Thomas Fiske (1630-1707) 1650 in Wenham, Essex County, Massachusetts.

Research Notes

Not long after her birth, Joanna apparently moved to the Massachusetts Bay Colony with her family, including her father John. John White was a settler of Salem who was in the city as early as 1638. As early as 1643 he owned land in Wenham. Wenham was first settled in 1635 and officially incorporated in 1643. Wenham was originally a part of Salem. It was the first town to be set off from Salem. A church was formed in October 1644, with John Fiske as pastor and seven families as members.

There is no marriage record for Thomas and his wife Joanna that I could find in Wenham vital records.

There is a published genealogy about the Fisk or Fiske family called "Fisk and Fisk Family: Being the Record of the Descendants of Symond Fisk..." that can be found online here: https://archive.org/stream/cu31924029841024#page/n63/mode/2up . Thomas has his own entry on page 64. It states that is first wife's name was Peggy, and his second wife's name was Martha. By first wife Peggy, he had eight [?] children; all his sons died young except Thomas Junior. Thomas made his will in 1705 and it was proved in 1707. Nine children are listed on page 64 and 65, including Thomas Jr. (not mentioned in vital records), b. 1656 [he was probably born a little before that]; Josiah (b. 1657); Amos (b. 1660); Eleazer (b. 1664); Martha (b. 1667); Eleazer (b. 1670); Sarah (b. 1672); Hannah (b. 1674); and Elizabeth (b. 1677).
