Johann Georg I. von Sachsen-Eisenach, Herzog von Sachsen-Eisenach, was born 12 July 1634 in Weimar, Thuringia, Germany to Wilhelm IV. von Sachsen-Weimar (1598-1662) and Eleonore Dorothea von Anhalt-Dessau (1602-1664) and died 19 September 1686 Marksuhl, Thuringia, Germany of unspecified causes. He married Johannetta von Sayn-Wittgenstein (1626-1701) 29 May 1661 in Wallau, Hesse, Germany.
Johann Georg was the founder of the most recent line of the dukes of Saxe-Eisenach, who became extinct in 1741. He was ruler in 1685 when Johann Sebastian Bach was born in the duchy.
