There is a Peter Harting who arrived in Philadelphia on September 26, 1749 aboard the ship "Ranier". Peter was allegedly killed by indians in 1759 and his two youngest children (George Henry and Catharine) were said to have been abducted. On February 9, 1759 in the Berks County records appears Peter Hartinger, Windsor Township - Administration to Peter Hartinger, eldest son of Peter Sr. who died intestate. 1761 Orphans Court Records for Berks County (Vol. 1, Page 56) "Upon the petition of Peter Hartinger, eldest son and administrator of Peter Hartinger deceased, Viz: Conrad, aged eighteen years, Henry, aged eighteen years, Gertrude, aged twelve years, George Henry, aged eight years, and Catherine, aged six years, which two last are captives among the Indians in order that the accounts of the administration might be settled - the Court do here appoint Frederick Dremer Guardian for Conrad, Andreas Seidle Guardian for Henry and Rudy Bossert Guardian for the three youngest children.
