John Alexander Hope, 6th Earl of Hopetoun, 6th Viscount Aithrie, 4th Baron Hopetoun, 3rd Baron Niddry, 6th Lord Hope, was born 22 March 1831 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, United Kingdom to John Hope, 5th Earl of Hopetoun (1803-1843) and Louisa Bosville-Macdonald (1802-1854) and died 1 April 1873 Firenze, Italy of unspecified causes. He married Ethelred Ann Birch-Reynardson (-1884) 3 January 1860 .
He served as Lord Lieutenant of Linlithgowshire.
