John Bacon was tried for housebreaking and and sentenced to life in 1836 at Essex, England. He was transported on the convict ship "Charles Kerr" which left Spithead, Hampshire, England on 8th June, 1837. The "Charles Kerr" arrived at Port Jackson, Sydney, New South Wales on 9th October, 1837. His physical discription was noted as five foot seven inches, fair and freckled complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes with two small moles. He was granted a ticket of leave at Dungog, New South Wales and a conditional pardon recommendation on 14th August, 1847.
