John Brooks "J.B." Fuqua (pronounced "few-kwa") (June 16, 1918 – April 5, 2006) was a businessman, philanthropist and chairman of The Fuqua Companies and Fuqua Enterprises. Fuqua developed business interests that included lawnmower dealerships and media outlets, among them WJBF-TV in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. He served in both the Georgia General Assembly and Georgia Senate and chaired the Democratic Party of Georgia from 1962 to 1966.
He was born John Brooks Elam, Jr., son of John Brooks Elam and Ruth Fuqua, in Prospect, Prince Edward County, Virginia. His mother died two months after he was born, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents, who changed his last name to Fuqua. He married Dorothy Chapman and was the father of two sons. He is buried in Westover Memorial Park, Richmond County, Georgia, USA.
