Peter Cheney was born 10 May 1666 in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, United States to Peter Cheney (1638-1694) and Hannah Noyes (1643-1705) and died 2 September 1750 Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, United States of unspecified causes. He married Mary Chute (1674-1750) 7 March 1693 in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States.

Biography

John Cheney, son of Peter Cheney (1638-1694) and Hannah Noyes (1643-1705), was born in Newbury MA on 10 May 1666 and died 02 Sep 1750. He was a carpenter by trade, and also a miller and cloth-finisher. For some years he conducted the grist mill which he had received from his father.

He received a gift of land in Suffield CT from his uncle, Nathaniel Cheney on 01 Apr 1684,a nd sold his rights to the same in 10 Apr 1723. He removed to Weston MA in 1724 and lived in that part of the town which afterward became incorporated as Sudbury. He returned, however, to his native town, and spent his last years there. 27 Oct 1724, he bought a house and 120 acres of land in Weston.

In 1731 he and his wife were received by dismissal from the church of Weston into the church at West Newbury, and some time afterward wiere dismissed from the latter to the Second Church of Rowley. His house in Newbury was so near the borderof Rowley the he is sometimes called of that town.
