John Churchill was born circa 1620 in England and died 1 January 1663 Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. He married Hannah Pontus (1624-1690) 18 December 1644 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
John Churchill emigrated to Plymouth Colony abt. 1643. The English Civil War was underway at the time and was probably a factor in his decision to leave England. His father-in-law William Pontus was one of the Leiden Separatists. His wife Hannah's sister Mary married Philippe De La Noye (Delano), a French Huguenot and another of the Leiden Separatists, from whom Franklin Delano Roosevelt is descended. Their son Samuel married Elizabeth Standish, the granddaughter of Captain Myles Standish, as well as of John and Priscilla (Mullins) Alden.
