'''John Churchill''' emigrated to [[Plymouth Colony]] abt. 1643. The English Civil War was underway at the time and was probably a factor in his decision to leave England. His father-in-law William Pontus was one of the Leiden Separatists. His wife Hannah's sister Mary married Philippe De La Noye (Delano), a French Huguenot and another of the Leiden Separatists, from whom Franklin Delano Roosevelt is descended. Their son Samuel married Elizabeth Standish, the granddaughter of Captain Myles Standish, as well as of John and Priscilla (Mullins) Alden.
